WELCOME to the Finger Lakes, and to the
2022 Region 4 Summer Meeting of the American Daylily Society,
sponsored by the Finger Lakes Daylily Society (FieLDS)
This is a wonderful opportunity for our daylily friends from Canada, New England, New York and our neighboring states to experience the exquisite beauty and charm of New York’s Finger Lakes region and to see first hand the incredible range of daylily gardens being opened to our visitors. FieLDS members live throughout the Finger Lakes, from Ithaca to Syracuse to greater Rochester and beyond. We have five TOUR gardens open to visitors during the day on Saturday, July 23, all located within an easy drive of each other around Rochester, and thirteen OPEN gardens on Friday and Sunday from Binghamton to Buffalo for your enjoyment as you drive into and out of the region.
All group activities for this event will be held on Saturday afternoon and evening, July 23, at the Webster Arboretum, 1700 Schlegel Rd, Webster, NY 14580. These events include voting on the Stanley Saxton seedling award while touring the FieLDS display garden and arboretum grounds, a hybridizer's round table educational program, a barbecue picnic dinner, the Region 4 annual business meeting, and a not-to-be-missed daylily auction. Attendees will arrange their own overnight accommodations, meals and transportation around the Tour gardens. This is intended to give attendees maximum flexibility for visiting the Tour gardens at their own pace, and to keep registration costs as low as possible. While there is no single designated event hotel for the weekend, FieLDS has arranged for blocks of rooms at two hotels very close to the Arboretum, as a supplement to any of the wide range of hotels, B&B's and rental homes available in greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes area.
In this web site, you will find separate pages containing information about the events of the weekend, how to register and where to stay, as well as descriptions and maps for the TOUR gardens that are open on Saturday, July 23 and the OPEN gardens that can be visited on Friday July 22 and Sunday July 24. Additional information about special points of interest throughout the region, including botanical gardens, local garden centers, museums, state parks and natural wonders, and, of course, the winery trails that abound in the Finger Lakes, can be found on the Finger Lakes Highlights page.
We will be continuously updating and adding to this web site as we get closer to the event. We fully anticipate and are planning for a high quality event that you will enjoy. However, if we need to change or cancel some or all of the activities that we have scheduled due to events beyond our control, we will try to give you as much advance notice as we can. We are trying to provide all the information that you need in here so that your trip planning will go smoothly and so that you will truly enjoy coming to visit the Finger Lakes, the FieLDS member gardens that you can visit over the weekend, and the Region 4 activities at the Arboretum.
On behalf of the Finger Lakes Daylily Society Board of Officers and all our members, WELCOME! We look forward to seeing you!
