DAYLILIES IN THE FINGER LAKES
The Summer 2022 Program and Meeting for Region 4
of the American Daylily Society
TOUR GARDENS on Saturday, July 23
You are invited to visit any or all of the following TOUR gardens on Saturday, July 23. These gardens will be open to visitors starting at 9:00 a.m., and will be closed at 3:00 p.m., except the Arboretum, which is the location of the afternoon and evening events on that day. FieLDS has selected these gardens because they represent a wide range of excellent gardens that incorporate daylilies as major elements of the landscape - from intimate back-yard gardens to a large commercial garden. Each garden is a gem in its own right. Please feel free to linger in any of the gardens and visit them in any order, at your own pace. The gardens are located close enough to each other so that it is possible to visit all of them within the allotted time without having to rush, and leaving time for lunch at a place of your choice. However, if you miss one or two – we understand. You may find it hard to pull yourself away from any of these wonderful gardens.
Please note – the Tour gardens do not have public rest room facilities. However, each garden is located near businesses that serve the public. Local commercial businesses near each garden are shown on the Tour Gardens Map.

Sunshine in the garden Daylilies
Hosts: Chrissy and Bob Quataert
12 Saveria Drive
Hilton, NY 14468
Master Gardener Chrissy Quataert and husband Bob created their back garden as a blank canvas in 2004 when they took down the above ground pool and deck. There are several themed collections including Stout Medal, Candy, Broadway and Siloam collections and a once upon a time garden. There is also a tranquil water feature along with other beautiful specimen trees, shrubs and perennials. We look forward to meeting you and hope you take some time to sit in the garden and enjoy the beauty!

There are several shaded areas with chairs and picnic tables for your convenience. We encourage our guests to bring a lunch or refreshments to enjoy while touring the gardens.
A few golf carts are also available for those who would like assistance to view the gardens.
Fox Gardens
Host: Jed Fox
157 West Jefferson Road
Pittsford, NY 14534
The Fox Gardens is an ADS National Display Garden and home to approximately 500 registered daylilies, as well as tree peony, hosta, and Japanese maple collections. There are two flowing ponds with waterfalls and streams. A reflecting pond, Zen garden, lotus bed, and a secret children’s garden are highlights that visitors enjoy. The gardens and ponds have all been designed, built, and maintained by Jed himself, with supervision and occasional help by his friendly dogs. The gardens have been on multiple local garden tours. There are several areas to sit, relax, reflect and enjoy the beauty, tranquility and humor within the gardens. Enjoy!
North by Southwest Gardens
Host: Leslie Arduser-Brogan
756 Newberry Lane,
Webster, NY 14580
A northern locale is not at odds with Leslie’s love of the Southwest. Showcasing her eclectic style and fondness for challenging the norm, cacti and conifers co-exist with Leslie’s hundreds of daylilies and hostas, along with specimen trees, peonies (tree and herbaceous) and numerous other perennials. One-of-a-kind sculptures, personally-made copper structures, second-hand finds and numerous colorful accent pieces complete the garden tableau.
Leslie credits her husband’s desire for flowers for her daylily “awakening.” She was strictly a foliage gardener until his request prompted her to find “non-fussy” flowers. Once discovered, be it potato chips or daylilies, no one can have just one…or 50! Daylilies, and an appreciation of color, led to other flowers - now they, and all two-legged appreciators, are welcome!
FieLDS ADS National Display Garden
Club Sponsor: Finger Lakes Daylily Society
Webster Arboretum
1700 Schlegel Rd.
Webster, NY 14580
The FieLDS ADS National Display Garden occupies a prominent knoll in the midst of the Webster Arboretum, which was founded in 1971 in 20 acres of the Town of Webster’s Kent Park. The park brings together the many talents of community members to develop and maintain this special setting in which to explore and learn about nature and experience quiet reflection amidst the beauty, sight, smell and sounds of the park. Sixteen seedlings submitted by Region 4 hybridizers are on display in the Stanley Saxton Award section in the front display garden. Attendees will have the opportunity to vote on the best seedling, and the winning hybridizer will be announced at the Region 4 Annual Meeting that evening.
